Commercial Property is one of the largest lines of commercial insurance in the insurance industry. Property was one of the first types of coverage ever written. But, the Commercial Property Policy, whether it is ISO’s or any other form, has coverage gaps. In this session we focus on the coverage gaps in the ISO Building and Personal Property Coverage Form (CP 00 10) and the Causes of Loss – Special Form (CP 10 30). Along the way we highlight the gaps and introduce the “fixes” for the gaps (where they exist). We also cover the problem with the concept of Replacement Cost and why it is not what we explain to insureds.

Steven Lyon is the Founder and Principal of Lyon Consulting Services, LLC, an independent educational consulting firm. Steve utilizes his 37 years of experience that comes from owning, operating, and managing a third-generation independent insurance agency in Northern New Jersey.

In addition to owning an agency, Steve has served as the Regional Director of Education for a large brokerage firm, and was Regional Vice President in charge of personal lines for the Insurance Division of a dynamic Banking Institution.

Steve earned his CIC designation in 1980 and CRM in 2003. In addition, he holds the CPCU, ARM, AAI, AFIS, CRIS, AIS and MLIS designations. He is a National Faculty member for the National Alliance who regularly speaks at Ruble Graduate Seminars, CIC Institutes, Dynamic of Service classes, and CISR programs throughout the United States and Puerto Rico. In addition, Steve works closely with a wide variety of Professional Insurance Agent Associations, Independent Insurance Agent Associations, Large Brokers and Insurance Carriers.
