Brett currently serves as the Director of Education & Agency Resources with the Big I Illinois.

Joey Samuelson began his career as a licensed insurance producer with Federated Mutual Insurance in 2004, where he built a strong foundation in risk management and client-focused service. In May 2015, he transitioned to the independent insurance side, joining Compass Insurance, where he is now an owner and agent.

Joey holds the professional designations of Certified Insurance Counselor (CIC), Life Underwriter Training Council Fellow (LUTCF), Registered Employee Benefits Consultant (REBC), and Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU), reflecting his commitment to ongoing education and delivering informed, strategic insurance solutions.

At Compass Insurance, Joey manages and supports producer teams across all 11 offices in East Central Illinois, operating primarily out of the firm’s Bloomington, Illinois office. He is dedicated to developing insurance professionals and ensuring clients receive thoughtful guidance, tailored coverage, and long-term risk management solutions.

Outside of work, Joey is deeply involved in the community. He is active at Vale Church in Bloomington, serves as an engaged Rotarian, and participates on boards and committees for several nonprofit organizations and community initiatives. Joey lives in Heyworth, Illinois with his wife, Karla, and their three active children—Hunter, Kenna, and Gracelyn—and is passionate about giving back to the communities he serves through both professional leadership and volunteer involvement.
